X-Man. Not the Marvel character; a different one. Logogenesis, what a cool power. I wonder what it’s really good for.

Read: Catching Fire; Mockingjay
Had to rush a little with Catching Fire and Mockingjay because Mockingjay was on express checkout from the library, which meant I had to finish both of ’em in a week.
My basic reaction to these books is that, as with the Harry Potter series (which I read) and the Twilight series (which I haven’t), I don’t see what it is about them that has caused the Millennial generation to pick them out of the crowd and turn them into mammoth blockbusters. Which is not to say that they’re not deserving! Let me put it this way: as far as I can tell, the success of the Hunger Games trilogy (and the Harry Potter septet, and, I guess, the Twilight series) relative to the success of all other books is not proportional to the quality of the Hunger Games trilogy relative to the quality of all other books.
And good for Suzanne Collins! I don’t mean that this is unjust. Perfectly good story and I’m going to check out what else she wrote. I don’t know why it happened, that’s all.

Read: A Few Quick Ones
Had a bit of time to rip through a Wodehouse before the next batch of library books came in. This one’s a collection of short stories that Brona found on sale in a doctor’s office; it was one of the few that we didn’t already have. It’s a pretty safe bet that I’ve read it before; certainly I’ve read at least some of the stories before. But that’s okay. It’s Wodehouse, after all, which means it’s automatically at least as worthwhile as anything else I might have been reading, no matter how many times I’ve read it before.
