I haven’t posted recently on my writing progress. I’m still wrestling with Chapter 7, which has turned out to be a monster. But that’s good, because if I get enough accomplished in Chapter 7, it means that after Chapter 8 I can jump forward in time a little bit, and if I don’t start jumping forward in time, this book is going to be a couple thousand pages long, and I bet that’s not the best way of doing it.

23/3/2011 Ded & Sac Update
Finished Chapter 6 of the first draft. Those characters I introduced that I said I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them? I figured it out and now I don’t know how I ever thought I could write the book without them. I like it when it works like that. On to Chapter 7! There’s a scene in Chapter 7 that I’m really looking forward to writing.
6/3/2011 Ded & Sac Update
Just finished Chapter 5 of the first draft and have Chapter 6 well underway. I introduced a new character in Chapter 5 who is going to do a lot of useful things for me… but I’m not sure what to do with him after that. (My mother-in-law said, “Kill him off,” which did occur to me, but I have the notion that I don’t want to go that way.)
Ded & Sac Update 21/2/2011
At this writing I’ve just started Chapter 5 of the first draft. I don’t know how many chapters there are going to be, but one of the major characters is only a couple of weeks old right now and he’s going to be about twenty by the end of the story.
I’ll provide updates every time I start a new chapter. My ambition is that I’ll write about a chapter a week, but I may be way off in that.
